The focal bead is the reason to look closely.

Batik bone is carved, then dyed dark, then etched back so the pale bone shows through the black in scrolls and spirals. Every line is cut by hand, which is why the pattern wanders slightly and why no two beads carry the same design. The technique is used across West Africa and Indonesia, and the tools are simple: a blade and a steady hand.

Around it sit polished black onyx rounds, warm cream bone, and flat discs banded in black and white — the same batik process applied to a different shape.

Silver spacers separate the elements so the black and cream never blur into one another.

This is a graphic bracelet rather than a colourful one. It suits black, white, grey, camel and denim, and it looks considerably more expensive than it costs.
