The wire is the design here, not the fastening. Each bead is caught in an open spiral of gold-filled wire that curves around the front of the stone rather than disappearing behind it — four to an ear, alternating direction so the pair reads as a ribbon rather than a stack. Forming that curve consistently four times over, twice, is the part that takes practice.

The stones are jasper, marbled in pink and cream with drifts of soft green running through a few of them. No two beads carry the same veining, which means the left and right earring are close cousins rather than identical twins.

Light enough to forget you have them on. Long enough that someone will mention them.
