Look at the drops rather than the strand. Each bead is individually wrapped and linked in copper wire — no chain, no findings, every connection formed by hand with pliers.

That is the most labor-intensive construction in this collection by a wide margin. A wire-wrapped link takes minutes rather than seconds, and there are more than a dozen of them here.

The beads themselves are worth the frame: black lampwork glass shot through with gold aventurine flecks suspended in the glass, a clear pressed tree-of-life bead, and carnelian barrels at the ends. The copper is left unlacquered so it will develop a warmer patina over time — that is intended, not a flaw.

The strand is faceted black onyx, deliberately plain, because the drops are already doing a great deal.
