One length of gold wire is bent into a teardrop, the stone set inside, and the wire coiled at the top to close the shape and form the loop. No solder, no manufactured findings — the cage and the loop are one continuous piece.

The stone is sea sediment jasper in a saturated violet, marbled through with white and grey where the minerals separated as it formed. Every round is a different map of that process, so the two earrings in a pair are close relatives rather than twins.

Gold suits this stone better than silver would. The warm metal pulls the red out of the purple and keeps it from reading cold.

Compact enough for daily wear — they sit close to the lobe rather than swinging.
